![]() The journal Hoosier Folklore published in 1947 three versions of this rhyme – “There was an old lady – she swallowed a fly”, “Poor little old lady, she swallowed a fly”, “A little old lady swallowed a fly” (2). “There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly” is originally a nursery rhyme. In 2006 she illustrated her final book, “The Old Lady who swallowed the Sea.” Pam Adams passed away in 2010. Pam Adams is also known as the author of the “Mrs Honey” series. In 1972 Pam Adams published her first book, namely “There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly” which is still nowadays Child’s Play best-selling title. In the 70’s Pam Adams allied with Michael Twinn, the founder of Child’s Play and worked for the children’s book publisher ever since. She began working as a graphic artist in the 50’s and 60’s. Her childhood enjoyment of drawing elaborated as she entered Swindon Art College.
